When visiting any city, finding the perfect place to stay is a priority. We were fortunate enough to discover an incredible two-bedroom loft located right in the heart of Downtown Bastrop. The location was absolutely perfect, allowing us to explore the area on foot and experience the vibrant atmosphere. Not only was our loft ideally situated, but it was also exquisitely decorated with charming and Pinterest-worthy details. The owners thoughtfully provided all the amenities we could possibly need, making our stay even more enjoyable. From white noise machines and earbuds for a peaceful sleep to Moroccan hair products for a luxurious shower experience, they truly went above and beyond. It was a home away from home.

Places to Eat in Bastrop, Texas

As food enthusiasts, we made sure to indulge in the incredible culinary offerings Bastrop has to offer. One of our first stops was Ma’Coco, a delightful Mexican restaurant located in Downtown Bastrop. We couldn’t resist trying their appetizers, including elotes, fresh guacamole, and carne asada fries. The flavors were absolutely delightful, and we savored every bite. And of course, we had to try their authentic Mexican tacos, which did not disappoint. Served with guacamole, cilantro, and onions, these tacos were a true taste of Mexico.

For breakfast, we headed to Maxine’s Cafe and Bakery, a charming hometown cafe that offers a variety of delicious options. I couldn’t resist trying their biscuits and gravy, and to my surprise, they offered both bacon and sausage gravy. I opted for the bacon gravy and it was a revelation. The rich and savory flavor took my breakfast experience to a whole new level. If you have the chance, I highly recommend trying it!

When lunchtime came around, Neighbor’s Kitchen and Yard became our go-to spot. Just a short walk from our loft, this charming restaurant offered a delightful patio overlooking the Colorado River. The atmosphere was perfect, and the food exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed chips and salsa as an appetizer and split a mouth-watering pizza. The fresh ingredients and unique flavors made it a truly memorable meal.

Don’t forget to visit Tough Cookie Bakery, a hidden gem that offers mostly organic vegan and vegetarian options. Their iced coffee is perfect for a midday pick-me-up, and their treats are simply irresistible. The best part? They have a play area for kids, allowing parents to relax and enjoy their coffee while the little ones have a blast.

Lastly, we made sure to visit Roadhouse, a burger joint known for its delectable burgers, steaks, and hot dogs. The boys devoured the largest hot dogs we’ve ever seen, while I opted for their famous Juicy Jalapeno Cream Cheese Burger. It absolutely lived up to its reputation and was bursting with flavor. We couldn’t resist ordering a side of their fried pickles as well. The whole table couldn’t get enough of these perfectly coated spears.
